Italian RS21 Team Race Championship

Italian RS21 Team Race Championship

The Italian Team Race Championship came to a close yesterday, May 4th, in Porto Rotondo. The event was organized by the Circolo Velico Nox Oceani Agonistica Porto Rotondo, with the support of the Region of Sardinia, the Marina of Porto Rotondo, the Yacht Club, and the Porto Rotondo Consortium.

Over the course of three days of racing, the best national teams competed in a thrilling series of regattas, watched by thousands who had arrived in Porto Rotondo for the concurrent Sardinia Boat Show.

Unlike traditional sailing races, the Team Race format offers highly tactical duels, making the action more engaging even from shore. This created a particularly strong impact on spectators, especially younger audiences.

As always, central to the activities of Circolo Velico Nox Oceani were the values of environmental respect—particularly for the sea—team spirit, and sportsmanship, expressed both on land and at sea.

Three days of top-level competition and exchange between athletes and guests culminated in an awards ceremony held at the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Awards were presented to the top three Under-25 teams, as well as the winning Senior team, during a ceremony attended by representatives from the Porto Rotondo Consortium, Marina of Porto Rotondo, FIV Zone III, CIPNES on behalf of the Sardinia Boat Show, and of course the President and Commodore of the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo.

Organizers and local authorities expressed great satisfaction with the success of the event, which stood out not only for the high level of competition but also for the strong human and cultural value that events like this bring to both enthusiasts and the wider public.

At the close of the event, Circolo Velico Nox Oceani confirmed that another RS21 Team Race regatta will be held in Porto Rotondo this coming September.
