Shipyard Pedro-Boat scores in Germany with new product

Pedro-Boat

Shipyard Pedro-Boat, almost 40 years builder of steel Pedro motor yachts, has succesfully introduced a new model. The H2home is shortly said a holiday bungalow on the water. On the Berlin recreational fair Boot & Fun, held from 18 to 27 November, the H2home has been shown for the first time. The interest was enormous. Meanwhile, orders with a value of over € 1 million have been given to the shipyard. In the season 2012, the first boats will be sailing in the Müritz area and around Berlin.

Introduction in Germany

Pedro-Boat has always been strong in the German market. And the lake area around Berlin is an excellent habitat for the H2home. It is because of this that the introduction did not take place in their home country the Netherlands, but on the Berlin Boat & Fun. But the new product is suitable for any lake or canal area in Europe.

The first buyer of the H2home is a charter firm on the Müritz. They were slightly overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the visitors of the exhibition. They could sign up for a test after having filled out a questionnaire. An astounding number of 400 interested reported, much more than expected.

Innovation in the recreational market

Earlier this year, the shipyard introduced the Liberty, a luxurious boat with the sailing characteristics of a motor yacht and the comforts of home. The H2home is more aimed at the internal waters and is more modestly equipped. And because of that more attractive for charter firms and obtainable for more users. The boat is designed on the basis of a number of criteria. The living area is completely on one level, which means that less mobile sailors do not have the problem of steps or thresholds in the boat. The steering and handling of the H2home is extremely simple, allowing people who have no experience in sailing a boat to handle the H2home effortlessly. Thirdly, the used materials are maintenance free. The walls of the superstructure e.g. are made of composite and the railing is made from stainless steel.

Widely used

The H2home can be used allyear round. The superstructure has a high insulation value and the windows are double glazed, so the H2home can also be used in the colder seasons. Especially charter firms will be able to lengthen their season with this. Also is thought of a low draught and air draught, which makes areas with low fixed bridges and shallow waters accessible.

Ivar van der Leij, marketing manager at Pedro-Boat explains: “This is the second important innovation within our product range. We expect to score with this especially in the charter branche. The boat extends the sailing season, and broadens their target group as it is very accessible also for non-watersports tourists. It also fits very much the new trend of ‘glamping’, camping on the water with all luxury and comfort from home. And it also offers an alternative for people looking for a holiday home at the waterfront.”

Keep innovating

With the orders for this new product, the shipyard has some work to do. And next to the H2home and Liberty, the shipyard continues building steel yachts. At Boot Düsseldorf a new 40 foot yacht within the Levanto range will be presented. Not only is this a new model, also has this boat a totally new interior concept in modern, light oak. “also in this market we keep on developing” says van der Leij.
