Nauta

Italian design studio Nauta has just completed a delicate interior refresh of the 40m Abeking & Rasmussen sailing legend 4K (ex-Alithia). The project called for a light touch that would dust off the original interior and guarantee many more years of bold cruising for this adventurous yacht.

4K has crossed many oceans and covered tens of thousands of sea miles since her launch in 2002.

Her bold exterior form, with its plumb bow, arrow straight sheerline and raised coachroof, was years ahead of its time and still conveys a very contemporary vibe with a powerful sense of purpose. Her steel hull and powerful sloop rig are the outward marks of her exceptional ocean-going capabilities.
Her original interior made maximum use of the huge volume available and turned natural light into part of the design thanks to all-round deck saloon windows and hull lights. But after so many miles travelled, the freshness had left the clean lines and neutral tones of the styling.
It was this that Nauta sought to recover, while sprinkling in a little contemporary magic that would update the interior and keep it relevant for the next 20 years of operation. It is less refit than refresh, although it touched almost every element of the interior, from the navigation station to the owner’s cabin.

“The 4K refit project is the result of a strong collaborative effort between the Owner, Crew,
Brokerage team and Nauta, all working together with shared commitment and momentum to meet
the Owner’s expectations. The design process was driven by a careful and conscious selection of proposals and interventions, developed within a tight schedule to ensure both efficiency and a successful outcome,” said Martino Majno, co-Director at Nauta.“

The key challenge lay in harmonising existing features with new design solutions, combining
refreshed materials, refined detailing and high-end furniture and décor to achieve a contemporary
atmosphere. Soft finishes and bespoke craftsmanship are paired with a fresh and welcoming colour
palette, creating an unexpected environment that fully unlocks the vessel’s potential. The generous
layout and spatial arrangement, enhanced by natural light and sophisticated design solutions, offer
guests a renewed and intimate onboard experience,” added Guido Valtorta, co-Director at
Nauta.
4K is for sale through Will Bishop of Superyacht Partners with an asking price of Euro 8,500,000.
