Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting Rendezvous Yachting Student Fair 21 March 2026
Explore a future in the yachting industry
Training, inspiring and guiding young people are key to the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach, as the Yacht Club de Monaco launches the first edition of a Yachting Student Fair on 21 March, a day of meetings to discover yachting and maritime professions.
Open 10.00 am to 5.00 pm to middle school, sixth formers, further education students and graduates, the fair provides a hands-on immersion into the relatively unknown careers that combine passion, technical knowhow and international opportunities. Entry is free on registration: https://form.jotform.com/260483294527059. The event kicks-off four days dedicated to yachting and exploration, organised with The Explorers Club of New York, a world renowned institution since 1904.
From vocational qualifications to degrees
Throughout the day, training institutions, maritime organisations, yachting professionals and researchers will present their courses and career prospects. The French Maritime Academy ENSM (École Nationale Supérieure Maritime)and the Nautical Institute Academy France will have all the details on careers as officers and engineers. The high school, Lycée Jacques Dolle d’Antibes, will present its courses on nautical maintenance, electromechanics and propulsion, while the commercial divers institution, École Nationale des Scaphandriers, explains requirements for underwater professions ranging from welding to hyperbaric archaeological operations.
On the yachting front, courses in yacht management, brokerage and onboard hospitality will be presented by YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training centre, the Cluster Yachting Monaco, the Yacht Broker School, the European School of Economics and the high school, Lycée Jeanne & Paul Augier.
Port-related professions from vessel traffic management to technical maintenance are also on the agenda with Monaco’s Department of Maritime Affairs and its port authority, SEPM (Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco). Finally, the demand for skills and expertise will be represented by experts such as the award-winning model maker Hervé Arnoul, Meilleur Ouvrier de France. From technical professions to management, science to design, the sea opens up a wide range of career paths for young people.
Constructing a plan not just a dream
The higher education division of Monaco’s Department of National Education will be present as it can support families post-baccalaureate and help with funding for further education. In brief, the Yachting Student Fair is the perfect opportunity for young people and their parents to ask questions and start to refine their choices. As well as finding out more about courses available, they can compare their plans with the realities of a profession, and have direct contact with professionals which can open doors to internships, apprenticeships and work experience.
Embark on a journey to understand
Participants will have a chance to visit several yachts moored in the YCM Marina, including S/Y 7Continent (31m) and meet its owner, Patrick Deixonne, navigator and founder of the 7th Continent Expedition. From his early years as a firefighter to his expeditions in the Amazon, culminating in his 2009 row across the Atlantic, his career illustrates how a career path can evolve. Alongside him, French explorer Luc Hardy, member of the French Explorers Society, will share his experiences in extreme environments. Exchanges like these will help join the dots between training, a profession and making an impact on the world.
Four days to explore, understand and get involved
The Yachting Student Fair marks the start of four days of events dedicated to exploration and environmental engagement, in collaboration with The Explorers Club.
- Sunday 22 March: an immersive day dedicated to “Explorer” yachts and inauguration of the Explorer Dock.
- Monday 23 March: a Day of Exploration is the highlight of the event’s scientific aspect with a focus on the deep sea and coral reefs.
- Tuesday 24 March, the 30th Captains’ Forum turns the spotlight on to a profession at the crossroads of science, yachting and exploration. Discussions will be followed by panels proposing operational eco-solutions that can be implemented onboard. They include the SEA Index®, the benchmark tool developed by YCM to measure and reduce the environmental footprint of superyachts.
- Highlight: the 6th YCM Explorer Awards by La Belle Classe Superyachts, with a Jury chaired by Richard Wiese, President of The Explorers Club, rewards exemplary projects illustrating alternative uses of yachts as platforms for exploration, research and innovation.
Opening the event with the Yachting Student Fair underpins YCM’s conviction that yachting’s future is being built today through training and the engagement of new generations.
