In like Flynt: Mulder Design and Flynt Yachts unveil stunning new Flynt Revolante 48
Flynt Revolante 48– Dutch design studio Mulder Design and high-end Dutch builder Flynt Yachts, led by
founder, concept creator and styling perfectionist, Robert-Jan Sanders, have collaborated on an all-new dayboat-cum-weekender, the Flynt Revolante 48. The new model takes on the mantle of Flynt flagship and delivers distinct but understated styling and a layout designed for differing days on the water. Carefully considered deck areas are
complemented by an interior that includes galley, dinette/V-berth, two single berths and sleeps for up to four people in total, and a head with separate shower. A new, optimised hull confers performance and precision handling.
With their extensive experience across yachts and superyachts of all sizes, encompassing disciplines from styling to naval architecture and engineering, Dutch studio Mulder Design was the perfect partner for Netherlands-based builder Flynt Yachts to develop an all-new flagship model for the Flynt range of scintillating dayboats.
The new model, called the Revolante 48, builds on the brand’s existing family comprising the Speedera 26 and Centura 32, and takes it into entirely new territory – larger, more versatile and with a bold new direction in design and performance.
Mulder Design was the obvious partner to achieve this, having worked with Flynt Yachts since 2024 restyling and updating Flynt’s original models into the 26 and 32.
“We worked on some design changes for the smaller models, and started talking about a bigger dayboat of around 48 feet that would appeal to a broader market on both sides of the Atlantic,” says Bas Mulder, owner and principal of Mulder Design. “The initial concept was presented at the start of 2025, and from there we began evolving the design, working together closely with the founder of Flynt Yachts, Robert-Jan Sanders. We pushed and pulled
and tweaked the design, challenging each other throughout the process, and the result is the Flynt Revolante 48. By early summer the design was ready.”
Balanced approach
The core brief was to not only build on the style and intent of the current range, but to create a larger dayboat that would deliver a multifaceted profile with huge flexibility to cater to different days out on the water. The addition of an interior with a spacious cabin, fully equipped head and shower, galley, and dinette would confer overnighter capability, and the boat would be underpinned by Flynt Yachts’ unwavering commitment to building
handcrafted yachts infused with the highest levels of Dutch quality.
The result is a striking yet refined design that balances several core attributes – bold but not
brash, confident yet understated, contemporary and still timeless. “The smaller models are
very sporty and very forward in their design – they are very recognisable and that was
always the aim, to stand out in that market,” says Mulder. “What we’ve done with the Flynt
48 is pull that back a little to ensure she is a boat that truly stands out but which doesn’t
need to shout to do so – she’s really something unique, neither too modern nor too classic.”
Her lines are defined by beautifully sculped topsides, where concave surfaces blend with a
distinct longitudinal crease and a chamfered edge below the gunwale. The graceful arc of
the sheerline to the stern is mirrored in a gentle reverse sheer toward the bow, redolent of
classics from the past but re-imagined with contemporary flavour. The 48’s lines have also
been perfected both with and without the hardtop, meaning a sublime profile whichever
option a client selects.
Decked out
For the deck layout, Mulder Design has applied its philosophy of catering to multiple use
cases. Aft, the swim platform leads up to large sunpads that lie either side of a central
walkway to the cockpit. There, L-shaped sofas create a social space with a centreline bar and
counter running fore-aft. In front of that, the helm lies to starboard served by a two-person
helm seat, with the companionway leading below to port. A second fixed sunbed on the
foredeck extends the guest areas and adds versatility.
Below, a spacious aft cabin delivers two berths and ample storage, while the fully equipped
head boasts a separate shower compartment. The galley and dining area complete with
sofa, which can be converted for an additional two berths, confer true weekender comfort,
while the modern and warm interior style blends a feeling of home and a feeling of luxury
thanks to the incredible attention paid to materials and detailing for which Flynt Yachts is
known.
“We really focused on the different ideas of how people might use the boat during the day,”
Mulder says. “That could be easy cruising in the morning, then being active in the afternoon
with water sports, swimming and playing around, and then perhaps having a party in the
evening – we’ve considered not only different uses and the differing social needs throughout
the day, but also how to transition between them.”
It’s a philosophy that chimed well with Sanders, who not only has a lot of personal
experience with boats but who has also sold a lot of them as well. That meant designing for
use with a family who want to enjoy daytime fun on board, but also for use by friends who
might make the most of her inviting social setting at sunset and then enjoy the boat late into
the night. “We wanted to make a real social experience on the boat, so not just a party boat
or just a play boat, but something that puts all those things together,” offers Mulder. “In
fact, we have some really creative ideas on how to change from scene to scene that have
been designed into the 48.”
Performance review
None of this, of course, compromises performance and seaworthiness. The standard Flynt 48
will be powered by twin Volvo Penta 480hp engines, which will drive a completely new hull
that has been optimised for speed, comfort and efficiency. “The result is a top speed that
will be in the region of 38 knots in a boat that blends performance and precision with
effortless handling,” Mulder enthuses. “She really will be like a glorious Grand Tourer.”
Pre-production engineering of the Flynt 48 is currently underway, with the moulds being
CNC milled and finished before the first hull begins construction at Flynt’s new facility in
Raalte, the Netherlands. Flynt will undertake both the composite work and interior outfitting
inhouse which ensures maximum control over quality, finish and delivery times.
The design work hasn’t stopped with the current Flynt 48 – the Mulder Design team is also
working on a centre-console version. To be known as the Flynt 48 S, it will be available with
both inboard and outboard propulsion options. The line-up refresh continues with the
addition of a hardtop option for the 48’s smaller sibling Flynt 32 S, pcreating a clear and
cohesive product family across the Flynt range.
“With the Flynt 48 we’re taking a major step forward with a powerful, modern dayboat with
all the benefits of a weekender, and one that combines Dutch craftsmanship with
international design sophistication,” Mulder concludes. “This project represents the perfect
balance between Robert-Jan Sanders’ creative vision and Mulder Design’s design DNA. The
result is a boat that evokes emotion – at any speed and at any time of day.”
The first Flynt 48 is scheduled to launch in Spring 2026.
