TANKOA YACHTS STRENGTHENS THE CIVITAVECCHIA PRODUCTION SITE AND CONSOLIDATES ITS INDUSTRIAL MODEL ACROSS LAZIO ANDLIGURIA

Tankoa Yachts is continuing the development of its integrated production platform between Civitavecchia and Genoa, where the two facilities now operate as a single industrial hub dedicated to the construction of large superyachts.

Covering more than 34,000 square metres within the port area, the Civitavecchiasite is currently focused on the core stages of hull construction, includingsteelwork, systems installation and the initial outfitting phases, all carried outaccording to Tankoa’s engineering, production and quality standards.Once the construction phase in Civitavecchia is completed, the hulls aretransferred by land and loaded onto a floating barge before being towed to Genoa, where final outfitting, commissioning, sea trials and delivery are performed. Thisintegrated and well-established production process allows Tankoa to retain directoversight of every stage of construction, ensuring consistency in both technicalstandards and build quality throughout the entire process. In July 2025, the first transfer took place. Operations are continuing at fullcapacity, with four transfers scheduled throughout 2026.

The first two units -measuring 50 and 55 metres respectively – departed Civitavecchia together at theend of March aboard the same floating barge. Two additional transfers are plannedbetween late spring and early summer, Further shipments to Genoa are scheduledin the following months, in line with the shipyard’s production timeline. The Civitavecchia facility is currently working on seven yachts ranging from 50 to72 metres, across multiple stages of construction. The portfolio includes both full-custom and semi-custom projects, highlighting the shipyard’s capability to manageseveral complex builds simultaneously. Among the key milestones scheduled in thecoming months are the keel-laying ceremony for a 61-metre yacht, the steel-cutting of the 72-metre project and the engine installation on a 50-metre unit.

Looking ahead, Tankoa plans to further expand the operational scope ofCivitavecchia, progressively extending activities into more advanced stages of theproduction cycle, including additional outfitting operations as well as launchoperations and support for sea trials.

Alongside its industrial growth, Tankoa Yachts is also reinforcing its presence within the local area by fostering a network of specialised skills, suppliers and marine industry professionals. The site currently involves around 300 people across direct employees and supply chain activities, with continued growth supported by partnerships with local technical institutes and training organisations. At the same time, the company is increasingly bringing activities in-house, reducing reliance on subcontracting in favour of greater operational control, enhanced safety and consistently high-quality standards. Both in Genoa and Civitavecchia, Tankoa maintains close cooperation with local institutions, pursuing a dual objective: strengthening the regional supply chain and consolidating an efficient production hub capable of generating value for both the territory and the wider Italian yachting industry, while also investing in education and training initiatives alongside vocational schools, universities and regional authorities. The aim is to create opportunities for younger generations and help address the shortage of specialised professionals across the sector. The continued development of the Civitavecchia site forms part of Tankoa’s long-term strategy to increase overall production capacity and further consolidate aflexible and integrated industrial model between its two shipyards. Since 2020 -when the company operated exclusively from its historic Genoa facility with around thirty employees and the production of a single large yacht per year -Tankoa Yachts has evolved into a dual-site operation with more than 120 direct employees and approximately 600 indirect collaborators, an expanded product range from 45 to 80 metres, and an annual delivery capacity of three to four yachts, reflecting a clear strategic vision and long-term positioning within the superyacht market.
