Kingship Yachts
From Kowloon to Cannes –European show debut for one of Asia’s most highly respected shipyards
Kingship Yachts–Marking their first appearance as exhibitors at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Hong Kong shipyard, Kingship Yachts, bring a ‘less is more’ approach to the under 24m yacht market.
With a long history of building and delivering yachts and commercial vessels of the highest calibre, Kingship’s first appearance at the Cannes Yachting Festival centres upon two innovative projects to be introduced.
Namely, the Kingship 88 monohull and KingCat90 catamaran, both under 24m, designed by Barracuda Yacht Design.
Kingship 88 monohull
The Kingship 88 combines the space, volume and prestige normally associated with larger yachts yet remains underneath 24m with multiple benefits for owner/operators, including reduced build cost, reduced manning and less rules and regulations regarding maintenance regime and annual survey that would otherwise normally apply.
Intended for an experienced couple to drive by themselves, or it can be chartered with a maximum of just two professional crew.
Hull material of choice is aluminium, which is up to 3x times lighter than steel, meaning reduced fuel consumption by 10 to 15 percent, with a maximum range in the region of 3000 nautical miles, and subsequently fewer fuel stops required, with the option to fuel-up only in countries where it is cheaper to do so.
Combining the space and prestige normally associated with 90-foot plus yachts, the Kingship 88 ‘series-production’ concept is a three-deck, full-displacement monohull comprising lower accommodation deck, main deck and the option of either an Open Fly/bridge or Enclosed Fly/bridge version.

With room sizes more commonly associated with those from a 5 or 6-star hotel, options include either an 8-guest layout, with full beam master cabin, a second full beam VIP cabin and two further doubles, or a 10-guest layout, with VIP cabin and four further double cabins, all en-suite.
Length overall including swim platform is 26.70m (88’) and max beam width is 7.80m, offering approximately 60% equivalent internal volume of a 34m mega yacht.
Good emphasis on crew and guest separation will make guests generally feel like they are staying onboard a much larger yacht.
Seamless integration from the crew quarters to the bridge, crew mess and galley on the main deck makes life easier for the crew – an important aspect of the design from day one.
The aluminium hull and superstructure is up to 3x times lighter than equivalent steel, for up to 10 percent reduced fuel consumption and range potential in the region of 3000nm at 11 knots – statistics almost unheard of on competitor yachts of equivalent size.
The full walkaround main deck offers bow to stern access with protected aft-deck space for intimate group dining and socialising. Steps from here lead down to a swim-platform close to water level for boarding the tender or for direct access to the sea.

KingCat 90 ‘super-mini cat’ Multiple advantages of a multihull design
The KingCat 90 is our new luxurious aluminium catamaran concept with significant living and social spaces spread over four decks.
Unlike for monohulls, space is one thing you are never short of on a catamaran because the layout and size of rooms and exterior spaces are not constrained by a single hull.
The 300+ gross tonnage of the KingCat 90 is equivalent to a much larger 40m monohull, yet without the associated burden and operational commitments of such a large yacht.
An 11.40m max beam width has allowed the designer to create a huge master cabin that more resembles a penthouse apartment to anything you might expect to find on a yacht.
Owner and guest cabins are all promoted to main deck level with better views and more incoming natural light, and all rooms lead to a vast external aft deck, with separate lifting platform for reliability and heavy load lifting of commercial grade quality. The yacht tender(s) can also be boarded in safety and protection from here.

The bridge and navigation area are located on the upper deck with full walkaround access and full open-plan interior design.
Inside the upper deck is the dining table with seating for twelve, a TV lounge area and separate bar, and each zone has rear doors that open onto a second external aft-deck seating and dining area.
Alternatively, guests can simply walk up the side decks to the spectacular full width foredeck, with further lounge style seating and sun-pad spaces offering sensational panoramic views.
For anyone requiring the utmost level of privacy, the Fly/bridge deck has additional lounge-style seating and further sun-pad spaces.
Class and flag rules typically require a 38m monohull of 300 G.T. to have at least six crew comprising Captain, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer, Assistant Engineer and two deckhands, whereupon the same ruling for the KingCat 90 with its 300+ G.T. requires just a Captain and one professional deckhand leaving plenty of room for additional crew such as your favourite sous-chef, sports masseur, SCUBA diving instructor or additional stewards and stewardesses.
