VENICE HOSPITALITY CHALLENGE VI EDITION – In the context of the Venice Boat Show, the VI edition of the Venice Hospitality Challenge was presented. The highly anticipated Grand Prix of the City of Venice will return on 19 October giving participants and spectators great emotions thanks to the only regatta held in the inland waters of one of the most famous cities in the world, the Serenissima.


Sport, luxury and lifestyle are the worlds of this competition that will see Maxi Yachts taking part, who have signed unforgettable pages in the history of sailing combined with as many famous realities of the Venetian
high hôtellerie. The teams, led by international skippers, will descend on the race course to compete for the “Doge’s Hat”, specially made by Massimiliano Schiavon Art Team, historic Murano glassware.
The hotels participating in this sixth edition are: Hilton Molino Stucky Venice; Hotel Danieli, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice; Belmond Hotel Cipriani; SINA Centurion Palace; Palazzina; The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice; Ca ’Sagredo Hotel; Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort; The St. Regis Venice;
JW Marriott Venice & Resort Spa; This year will also participate Bauer Palace, San Clemente Palace Kempinski, Hotel Londra Palace and the extraordinary presence of the Alajmo family, excellence of Italian
cuisine.
An exceptional judge for an exceptional race.
To arbitrate a high-level competition, a unique international judge could not be missing: Alfredo Ricci, born in 1970, Stella d’Oro at sporting merit CONI, Umpire International, International Judge, International Race
Committee, the only Italian racing official to have these three qualifications. From the race fields of the America’s Cup and the Olympic Games, he will arrive in Venice to chair the Committee of the Venice
Hospitality Challenge assisted by Emilia Barbieri and the national judge Gianfranco Frizzarin on board from the first edition.
Venice Hospitality Challenge and One Ocean Foundation
Also this edition of the Venice Hospitality Challenge, Yacht Club Venezia, promoter of the regatta, will support “One Ocean Foundation”, for the preservation of the oceans, an international project born in
March 2018 from an idea of ​​the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, directly interested in the preservation of the Marine environment. The commitment by the YCV was also shared by the Municipality of Venice and publicly announced by the Councilor for the Environment and Sustainable City Massimiliano De Martin through the signing – which took place during the conference – of the Charta Smeralda, the ethical code which guides individuals and organizations for environmental protection. It is an innovative document and accessible to all through the site www.1ocean.org. “Promoting the protection of our waters through
projects and initiatives that see institutions, companies and citizens acts in synergy, represents our mission comments the Vice President of the One Ocean Foundation Riccardo Bonadeo – which we are honored to pursue also thanks to the support of the mayor Luigi Brugnaro and Councilor Massimiliano De Martin of the Municipality of Venice, a city that has historically made the sea its strong point and that has renewed its

The start of the race for 13.30 on Saturday 19 October and the fleet base will be the Marina Santelena while the San Marco basin, focal point of the route, will allow the public to follow a spectacular competition from the shores. The prize giving will take place at the “Zattere” at the VYP, Venice Yacht Pier
in direct contact with the citizens at around 4.30pm. In the evening an exclusive private event will take place to celebrate the crews and partner hotels and consolidate the spirit of elegance and style that characterizes this unique regatta in the world.
“Venice Hospitality Challenge was born in 2014, now reaching its 6th edition. Racing boats with a minimum length of 60 feet in a city circuit is the peculiarity of this spectacular regatta – underlines Mirko Sguario,
creator and organizer of the event and President of the Yacht Club Venezia – and this is why I strongly desired for this regatta also the name of Grand Prix of the City of Venice because I believe that our city also has the ability to bring the Gotha of sailing. “

The last edition saw the overall victory of Spirit of Portopiccolo – Ca ’Sagredo thanks to an excellent start and run of the regatta by the skipper Furio Benussi. Way of Life second position – The Gritti Palace, a Luxury
Collection Hotel, Venice with skipper Gaspar Vincec and third overall at the finish line, first class 2, Pendragon VI – Hilton Molino Stucky helmed by Lorenzo Bodini.
