Vene 14 Båt-Helsinki International Boat Show

VeneBat_2014Vene 14 Båt – the Helsinki International Boat Show – will honour tradition with the selection of the best sailing boat and motorboats. The finalists will be announced on the show’s opening day on Friday, 7 February and the winners on Wednesday, 12 February. The opening day will also feature the announcement of the winner of the vote for Guest Harbour of the Year and for the Boating Achievement of the Year. Votes can be cast for the Boating Product of the Year during the fair.

The Stars of Vene Båt

In the Best Boats of the Show competition, prizes are awarded to three motorboats and one sailing boat. Sailing boats, outboard motorboats, day cruisers and cabin cruisers compete in their own categories. For each category, a panel made up of boating magazine journalists chooses 3–5 finalists, from which an expert panel chooses the winner.

The finalists, chosen by the panel judging the preliminary round, will be announced at a press conference held at 10:00 on Friday 7 February 2014 and the winners of the competition will be announced at 13:00 on Wednesday 12 February.

Most popular guest harbour will receive a prize

Over the summer, boaters have had the opportunity to vote for the Guest Harbour of the Year, which has best served boaters. The winner of the vote for the Guest Harbour of the Year competition, organised by the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation (Suomen Purjehdus ja Veneily ry, SPV) and Messukeskus, will receive prizes including EUR 5,000 from the Finnish Fair Foundation, for the further development of the recipient’s harbour operations.

The winner will be announced at 10:00 on Friday 7 February and the most popular harbours will feature in the show at the Guest Harbour of the Year stand.

The Boating Achievement of the Year Award promotes boating and improves safety

To round off the boating season, we are again searching for an exemplary achievement or activity, or a person who, through his or her own actions, promotes a better boating culture and smooth interaction among other boaters.

The Finnish boating journalists’ association, Veneilytoimittajat ry – Båtjournalisterna rf, will present the award, which will go to a private individual, a company, cause or event, which may even be a local phenomenon. However, the key issue is that the winning achievement is of broader national significance in promoting the pastime of boating and in improving its safety.

The winner will be announced at a press conference at 10:00 on Friday 7 February 2014.

Public to choose Boating Product of the Year

Each year, the members of the Finnish boating journalists’ association, Veneilytoimittajat ry, choose 10 products for entry into the Boating Product of the Year competition. The finalists will be on show at Vene Båt, at which members of the public can vote for the best product. The poll will be open from 7-16 February, including online at www.finnboat.fi
The winner of the Boating Product of the Year competition, organised by the Finnish Marine Industries Federation Finnboat, will be announced on Wednesday 19 February.

Messukeskus organises the annual Helsinki International Boat Show, Vene Båt, on behalf of the Finnish Marine Industries Federation Finnboat. This year, the boating event will be held for the 45th time. The boat show’s main partner is Volvo Auto Oy Ab.
