BMW Romania has launched a strategic partnership with Yacht Club Romania, the leading offshore yachting club in Romania, aimed at promoting performance within a unique sport on the Black Sea – offshore yachting. The main goal of the partnership is to organise the third Romanian Offshore Yachting Championship under the title “BMW Championship”, which also includes the BMW Black Sea International Regatta and the championship finals – BMW Romania Regatta.
“BMW has always accepted challenges – and this is the reason for our leading position in the premium automotive industry and for the support we offer to those displaying passion in whatever they try to achieve,” said Nina Bratfalean, Marketing Manager, BMW Group Romania. “We hope that the passion that Yacht Club Romania has invested in this sport will benefit from the support we will offer, and that all participants in this noble sport – offshore yachting – will join BMW and Yachting Club Romania out of passion for performance.”
“For us, the partnership with BMW represents remarkable support coming from a brand that has promoted, and continues to promote, quality and performance as core values, especially with offshore yachting competitions such as the America’s Cup and the BMW Sailing Cup,” explained Bogdan Alexandrescu, CEO of Yacht Club Romania.
The third staging of the Romanian Offshore Yachting BMW Championship, which was founded in 2009 by Yacht Club Romania, will cover four competitions: the BMW Black Sea International Regatta, the Nautic Life Beneteau Regatta, the Callatis Regatta and the championship finals, the BMW Romania Regatta. All championship stages form part of the official 2011 ISAF (International Sailing Federation) calendar of events.
The first stage of Romania’s Offshore Yachting BMW Championship, the BMW Black Sea International Regatta, is scheduled to start on 18th May in the Mangalia resort. It is the only offshore yachting competition on the Black Sea, taking place in between two countries (Romania and Bulgaria).
